SEIU Local 205 Endorses Rep. Aftyn Behn for U.S. House in District 7 Special Election

NASHVILLE, TN — The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 205 has voted unanimously to endorse Representative Aftyn Behn of Tennessee House District 51 for the U.S. House of Representatives in the December 2, 2025, District 7 Special General Election.

Rep. Behn has built a reputation as a fierce advocate for working people and their families. In the Tennessee General Assembly, she has championed legislation to eliminate the state grocery tax and expand universal pre-kindergarten, a clear demonstration of her commitment to policies that improve everyday life for Tennesseans.

A social worker by profession, Rep. Behn brings a deep understanding of the essential role unions play across both the public and private sectors. She has consistently defended the right of every worker to organize and bargain collectively. With a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas, specializing in Administration and Policy Practice, she is uniquely equipped to navigate complex policy landscapes and deliver meaningful legislative solutions.

“Tennesseans are ready for leaders who stand firmly with workers,” said SEIU Local 205. “From the picket line to the halls of government, Aftyn Behn has the integrity and resolve to fight for working families. She is the ideal candidate to represent District 7 in Congress.”

SEIU Local 205 is an affiliate of the Service Employees International Union, representing nearly 2 million workers across North America.
