SEIU, MNEA, CLC Endorse Stephanie Bradford for School Board

July 10, 2020

NASHVILLE, TN – On Friday, the Metro Nashville Education Association (MNEA), the Service Employees International (SEIU) Union Local 205, and the Central Labor Council (CLC) of Nashville and Middle Tennessee all announced they are supporting former MNPS teacher Stephanie Bradford for the appointment to the vacant School Board seat in District 4 to succeed Anna Shepard.

“Stephanie’s experience as a teacher in our public schools gives her a clear understanding of the challenges our district faces and the needs of students and educators in our classrooms. Her knowledge and expertise will be invaluable on the School Board,” said Amanda Kail, President of MNEA, the union representing teachers at MNPS.

Brad Rayson, President of SEIU Local 205 added, “Stephanie has worked alongside our members and understands that every person in our school system plays a key role. Food service workers, paraprofessionals and custodians, all know that as a Board Member Mrs. Bradford will  value their contributions.” SEIU represents support staff in Metro Schools.

“Union families across Davidson County are parents of students in Metro Nashville Public Schools. They want Board members who understand that every occupation has value and that will focus on creating opportunities for every student to see their pathway to a good life, whether that be as a construction worker, a doctor, or on a factory floor. Our members believe Stephanie Bradford is the best choice for this appointment,” said Vonda McDaniel, President for the Central Labor Council of Nashville and Middle Tennessee. The CLC represents over 20,000 union families in Middle Tennessee.
