“Sign Up A Buddy” Campaign Sets Recruitment Record in Metro Chapter

At the March meeting of the local’s Metro General Government chapter, the membership voted to implement the “Sign Up A Buddy” campaign. The campaign is a member-to-member recruitment drive which would award either a new GPS system or a Kroger gift card to a new SEIU member and the co-worker who recruited them. The campaign was so successful that we can report that the Union has shown record-breaking growth this year in the Metro chapter. From March 15 to June 21, members signed up 40 of their co-workers to join the Union!

The winners of the first contest were James Sawyer and the buddy he signed up, Tommy Anderson. Both James and Tommy are corrections officers at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. “James definitely earned his stripes in this contest,” says Scotty Davison, Local 205’s Organizing Director. “In addition to recruiting Tommy, James also signed up four other members in just three days!”

Congratulations to James and Tommy and thanks to all the SEIU members who participated in the contest and helped build our Union.
