The Health Incentive Plan Saves You Money

SEIU Local 205 was proud to be a lead partner in creating the Metro Employee Health Incentive Program two years ago with council members, department heads, administration officials, and the Benefit Board.

The Health Incentive Program allows Metro employees to get their co-pays and deductibles waived if they use Nashville General Hospital for their healthcare needs. It was created to help bring more customers to General and decrease the Hospital’s dependence on federal, state, and local funds. So far, the program has been a smashing success. General is averaging 50 new Metro patients each month that have never utilized their services in the past.  Since it’s been implemented, the HIP brought in close to $2 million to General and it saved Metro employees’ hard-earned money. “We continue to support the HIP and we’d like to see it expand in the future,” says Doug Collier, president of Local 205. “General provides top-notch medical care and we hope Metro employees continue to use them for their healthcare and spread the word about all the great things they do.”
