SEIU Complaint on Rutherford Moves Forward to D.A.’s Office

In response to a complaint filed by your Union, the Hamilton County Election Commission voted to ask the District Attorney’s office to investigate former councilwoman Marti Rutherford for possible illegal votes that she’s cast in past elections.

SEIU has discovered evidence that Ms. Rutherford may have voted in several recent elections in the wrong district - something that is considered a felony under state election code.

“This is not about a crusade against anyone,” says Doug Collier, Local president. “Elected officials need to know that you can’t just lie to the people and get away with it. We hope the D.A.’s office takes a long hard look at these allegations against Ms. Rutherford and find out if there was wrongdoing”.

You’ll remember that Rutherford was finally forced to resign her seat on the council thanks in large part to the complaint filed by Local 205 last year once we learned that she was not actually a resident of the district she was elected to.

Thanks to the Democratic and Republican members of the Election Commission who voted with us on the issue.
