Carol Berz Wins Seat on Chattanooga Council!

Thanks to the hard work of your Union co-workers, Carol Berz won the race for the District 6 seat on the Chattanooga City Council. Berz won with a solid margin against five other candidates to replace Marti Rutherford thanks in part to the dedication of SEIU members who knocked doors for her campaign.  “SEIU was a huge help to our grassroots campaign,” Carol says. “Union members came out on their days off to volunteer to knock doors in the district.  That was crucial in us getting our message out and we are deeply grateful to SEIU for helping us win."

“Carol’s campaign had a lot of support from city workers in general and a lot of that credit goes to SEIU members for getting the word out about her,” says Sharon Blanks, a union steward who works at 911. "I think we're going to finally see some positive change with Carol Berz on the council".

Congratulations to Carol on her victory and thanks to the SEIU members who worked to help out on our "Purple-Powered People" campaign: Vanessa Jackson, Alice Williams, Nancy Nason, Steve West, Jackie Worthington, Robert Ledford, Sharon Blanks, Cyndi Workman, Dennis Schiavon, Devon Cotton, and to the local organizers - Jeff Berntsen and Ed Timmons.
