VICTORY: Union Cuts Through Red Tape for General Services Member

Offie Fox works for the Office of Fleet Management in the Metro General Services Department.  He had a problem with his IOD claim when Management started to penalize him by taking days away from him.  Offie brought the issue to the attention of his supervisor and got nowhere.  Then he decided he needed some help to get his voice heard.

“I put the call into my shop steward and then the Union sprung into action," Offie says. "With their help, I cut through the red tape and had a direct line to the Benefit Board. Before you know it, things were getting a fresh look and H.R. was willing to work with us. Now, my IOD days were restored and I’m happy to be back on the job again taking care of the vehicles. Hats off to the union for making things happen!”

One of the advantages to Union membership is that we've been handling these types of issues for a long time.  We have relationships with Metro officials, the regulatory boards, and politicians who are the watchdogs over the departments.  We know how the bureaucratic maze works and how to cut through the red tape to get things done for our members. just ask Offie Fox.
