VICTORY: Member Action Stops Pay Cut in Metro Schools!

Your Union wins cases and grievances all year long. Our Representatives and Shop Stewards have gotten wronged employees back pay, promotions they deserved, and even saved people their jobs. But because of privacy and legal issues, we cannot always discuss these victories in detail publicly. Here’s one we can talk about...

During the summer days controversy in late August, Management tried to cut the pay of food service workers in half. This would have meant money not going into our members' pocket!  But when SEIU members told their stewards about this proposed pay cut, union leaders acted quickly. Working with Management, the issue was resolved and all food service workers will get a full week’s pay.

Ellen Warner and Sonya Busby are Cafeteria Assistants at East Middle School and they had this to say about this major victory in Metro Schools:  “We’re glad that our Union listened and responded quickly on this issue.  When we stand together in common cause, we really can make a difference!”
