Union Member Honored for Going Above and Beyond @ Metro 911
Union steward Natalie Wiggins was honored as May's Employee of the Month by the Metro Emergency Communications Center (ECC) for exemplary service in the line of duty.
In late April, Natalie - a 911 dispatcher at the ECC - received a call from a female who received a text message from a suicidal teenager. The teenager apparantly thought that he was texting a classmate. Natalie kept in touch with the caller for over an hour. Natalie attempted to get the teenager's address from the cell phone provider with no luck. Staying committed to the call and refusing to give up, she contacted the school's resource officer. The officer volunteered to get out of bed, go to the school, and research the child's home address. The address was obtained and officers were dispatched.
Natalie went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the child's safety and Local 205 applauds Natalie for her committment to her job, public safety, and helping provide quality public services that we can all be proud of. Congratulations, Natalie!
