“I want to have a voice now and help lead the fight for equality and justice for our members”.  This message sums up the reason that Rhonda Blackshear is an activist in SEIU Local 205.

Rhonda, a new Food Service steward, works in the cafeteria at New Dodson Elementary School. She has worked for other companies where she did not have the right to have a union. For this reason, SEIU means more to her. She states that “Union leaders like Michael Thomas who take the time to show workers that they can have a voice” have inspired her. Rhonda reminds us that we can seek out fairness, justice and improve workers rights by joining together.
