Ed Grubbs
Nashville Public Library
Ed Grubbs works at the Metro Public Library system’s main branch downtown and has been a Metro employee since 1986. As a Library Associate, his job is to help customers find the magazines, newspapers, or databases they’re looking for. Ed also oversees over 50 of the library’s computer stations, where he assists patrons with using the computers and to make sure that they follow the library’s usage policies. Ed is a husband and he enjoys reading—especially history and how-to books. Ed also enjoys target practice at the local gun range. He has been active with SEIU since he joined in 1990 and believes unions have a valuable role to play. “In government, many people in the workforce are related or they tend towards favoritism. I think Unions help create an even playing field in situations like that”.
