Crescent Bynum is a Food Service Manager at A. Maceo Walker Middle School and has worked for Memphis City Schools for 7 years. She serves as the Assistant Chief Steward for the MCS chapter.

Crescent joined the union to make sure people are treated fair. “With a union we are guaranteed fair treatment,” she says. “Our union has helped keep upper management honest. Now, supervisors have to stop and think before they hand out discipline, because our union has made them accountable”.

Crescent also likes to look towards the future. “In the next contract, I want to make sure cafeteria managers are paid according to the education and work they do. I would also like to see MCS institute a tuition reimbursement program, so we have real incentives to continue our education.”
