You Can Be SEIU's "Shining Star"!

New Program Recognizes Union Activists

As part of Local 205's goals of activating and mobilizing our members, we're implementing our new Shining Star activist recognition program.  This program will culminate in an awards dinner to recognize our most dedicated members across the Local.

Starting in January 2008, we began tracking member participation at various SEIU events through sign-in sheets.  In November, we will tally individual participation to determine what level of activist recognition members have qualified for.  These levels will be determined by the following point system:

Worksite Meetings
Chapter Meetings
Steward Meetings
Bargaining Meetings
Local Committee Meetings
Misc. Meetings & Activities
Additional Volunteer Work
Community/Political Actions
Grievance Handling

We will recognize three tiers of activism:

Unionism is a committment that requires time and energy - both on and off the job - for the Union to be strong.  The Future Strength Committee wanted to formally recognize the continued committment of our activists.  We look forward to our evening on December 6, 2008 of fellowship and appreciation.
