CHARTER AMENDMENTS

There aren't just candidates on the ballot this year.  Several key Charter Amendments will have an impact on union members and their families.

Davidson County
Amendment #1:  VOTE YES
Voting YES on this amendment would restore Metro's budget timetable to what it used to be.  It allows the Mayor and the Council more time to prepare their budgets and for the public to inspect them.  The Union supports this.

Amendment #2:  VOTE YES
Voting YES on this amendment would shore up term-limits statutes and ensure that our elected officials were serving the people, not their own personal political ambitions.  The Union supports this.

Shelby County
Our coalition partners, Change Memphis, have a comprehensive analysis on the Charter Amendments affecting Shelby County.  We urge union members to read their analysis here before casting votes on the six amendments.
