UPDATE: Unsafe Staffing Grievance Denied by Management

Only after months of meetings and conversations with Management regarding unsafe staffing, the SEIU leadership team filed second step grievances (#08-007 and #08-008) for S&T and RN units on April 28th.   On June 4th, the grievance was unilaterally denied.

Tina Smith is a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) on the cardiac floor at Methodist Medical.  She has been an employee since 2003 and an active union member the whole time.

Your chief stewards have taken action to try to resolve ongoing unsafe staffing problems housewide.  After several discussions with administration in classification and JEC (Joint Executive Committee) meetings, a grievance was filed on April 10th, 2008.  After two weeks, there was no response by management.  As a result, union leadership decided to advance the grievance to second step.  This second step hearing is scheduled to be presented on Monday, May 12th.
