SEIU's New "Board of Auditors" Will Police Union Finances

Local 205’s president, Doug Collier, was elected to the Board of Auditors, a corps of officers that serve as a watchdog group for the International Union’s accounting practices.

According to the International’s constitution and bylaws:

The Board of Auditors shall examine and review the books and accounts of the International Secretary-Treasurer… [T]he Board shall also give a written report to the International Convention…

Mr. Collier was elected as part of President Andy Stern's "Justice for All" slate by delegates in solidarity representing close to 1.3 million members at the SEIU 2008 International convention in Puerto Rico.  The position is a prestigious one and ensures that Tennessee's influence with the International Union remains strong.
