Doug Collier Elected to International Executive Board

Local 205 president Doug Collier has been elected to serve on the International Union’s Executive Board. The Executive Board is the highest governing body of the union, second only to the Convention. It has 59 members who serve five year terms and represent over 2 million workers in North America.

Collier was nominated by International president Andy Stern and was elected unanimously. “I am honored to represent Tennessee on the e-board and to help the millions of workers across the country that SEIU represents,” Collier said. “Now more than ever, people who work for a living need someone who will listen to their concerns, not the concerns of bankers and millionaires. I will do all I can to ensure that SEIU remains focused on working families”.

Collier, who began his work in the labor movement some 30 years ago as a union coal miner in West Virginia, was elected president of Local 205 in 2007 and was selected to serve on the I.U.’s new Board of Auditors in 2008. He lives in Nashville.
