1st Annual “Activist Recognition Dinner” Honors Superstar Union Members

It goes without saying that a union is only as strong as its members are. Without the dedication of our officers, our shop stewards, our member organizers, and our political activists, it wouldn’t be possible for us to achieve all the things we need to do to improve our members’ lives.

Volunteering your time is the most important contribution you can make to your union and that’s why over the last year, Local 205 has been tracking how active our members have been. If you’ve attended a chapter meeting, a bargaining session, a rally, or a political action and put your name on a signup sheet, you were awarded “purple points” for your participation. We added up all those points and held our first Activist Recognition Dinner in December to honor those of you who went above and beyond the call of duty for your union.

The Dinner was held in Nashville and aside from the amazing food, we also handed out recognition plaques and we held a drawing for some great prizes. We plan to hold one of these dinners every year, so we encourage all our members to get involved in 2009. Our sincerest thanks to all those who put the dinner together, but most importantly, thanks to all who helped make Local 205 become stronger together.
